She"d "freeze" me out like that all the time, mainly because she was much older than me. At the same time, we were only half siblings and she didn"t get along with my dad very well, even though he was always as nice as could be to her. Then one day, she was gone. She had a big fight with my parents and went to live with my grandmother across town. That was 27 years ago, and as sad as it is, I have not seen her more than a half-dozen times since then. I never did understand what made her act like that, nor did my parents. It wasn"t until I was in high school we learned the truth; she had bipolar disorder. However, as far as I know she"s never sought treatment for it, and as a result, with the exception of my late grandmother) she"s basically managed to alienate every single person in her life. It makes me sad to think I have a sister out there, and I don"t even know where she lives!
